Suicide Girls vs. Boys Essay

In general girls think more about committing suicide than boys; however boys take their lives more often through this approach as they use more dangerous techniques of killing themselves. Adolescent girls are at a greater risk of depression because of a number of reasons. First of all the age of adolescence is very critical in the life span of a human here the child develops and learns characteristics which shape up his or her personality through the rest of his or her life. A human being learns most of its habits and nature at this age. This is the learning and developing stage where adaptation is at its maximum but the maturity and reality of life is not in focus (Santrock, 2007). When a girl faces a dilemma which is beyond his or her understanding capability depression is the only mental condition that she can face because she does not know how to solve the problem or get out of that situation. In this situation they face extreme depression.

As for the boys they are prone to suicide at an age of adolescence because they are somewhat different to girls in their mentality, thinking and emotional rationale. At a small age when boys feel the same feelings as girls do where no solution to a problem is available or things get out of their hand as related to their life they get depressed (Santrock, 2007). The difference is physical display of emotions in males is more obvious than in females. This is the reason males speak less than girls and display their feelings physically. This is the reason why they are prone to suicide at an age of adolescence when depressed. They want to show their feelings physically and can attempt suicides. The maturity level is low hence thinking scope is very narrow hence solution to problems is not easy and the only way out is through displaying a strong physical action.
